About the Business
In 1871, William Mitchell signed the lease on his very first pub and brewhouse - The Black Horse Inn, in Lancaster. Today, over 140 years later, Mitchell's of Lancaster is still a family owned, traditional pub company retaining family traditions and core values for great service and quality cask ales which echo our founder all those years ago. Our estate comprises of both managed and tenanted pubs and a seafront hotel, which vary from city centre venues, quality food houses and local pubs at the heart of the community.
Together, they cover the city, coast and countryside of North Lancashire and South Cumbria. To provide an unrivalled standard of service and overall customer experience that exceeds our customers' expectation. Looking towards the future, Mitchell's of Lancaster will stay firmly in the hands of the family. We have long term plans to expand our pub estate and to increase their popularity to develop the business for the next generation of the family.
