About the Business
It was built in the grounds of Hollerday House, and was owned by a number of local businessmen who leased the property on 6 monthly and 12 monthly contracts. We have found an early quote from "Vanished Landmarks Of North Devon"' which states that the property generated "£52 income per annum (a nice little offset against the upkeep of Hollerday House)". It was built in the heyday of Victorian expansion in the area, when Sir George Newnes helped popularise the area and many rich business people from London built and wanted to stay in second homes here. The house maintains the tranquil atmosphere from when it was first built and still retains many of its original features.
