About the Business
Hampsfell House was built around 1800 for a Lancashire mill Owner and has had a variety of names during the last 206 years. It's name changed from sandyfield house to Hampsfell House in 1986, but previous to that it was named Handyfield House. Hampsfell became a hotel in grange over sands just after the second world war, and has since become a very popular place to visit by both residential guests and diners alike.
There are nearly two acres of well stocked gardens, woodlands and fields around the Hotel that you are welcome to explore, and it's just a short five minute walk (or two minute) drive down into town where you will find some of the finest gardens in the local area, along with a whole variety of small shops at your disposal. Many of our guests visit purely to walk up Hampsfell itself due to the breathtaking views it offers. On a clear day, you can see for miles across Morecambe bay, to Lancaster and Morecambe and the busy port of Heysham.
